Guest Editor's Note:

Victor Maquera, M.D., Neurologist, Jacksonville Neurological Clinic

Headaches are a frequent problem presenting to the Primary Care physician. The morbidity and cost associated with headaches is extensive. This issue will cover some of the more common conditions associated with headaches as well as the treatment.

The compilation of articles in this month's issue presents a variety of authors in various types of practices: academic and private practice, general clinical neurology and specialty focus on pain and migraines.

Drs. Van Gerpen and Capobianco are affiliated with the Mayo Clinic and specialize in the treatment of headaches. Dr. Hickey is a Neurologist in Private Practice in Jacksonville, he has an extensive background and interest in the treatment of headaches and chronic pain.

Dr. Reilly is the staff Neurologist at the Naval Air Station Hospital, where a common complaint among the young and relatively healthy service members is headaches.

Dr. Trescot is a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of chronic pain and has frequently presented papers and lectures on this topic in various forums around the country.

Dr. Maquera is a Neurologist in Private Practice with the Jacksonville Neurological Clinic. His experience in treating headaches stems from his active duty experience with the US Navy, as well as frequently presenting lectures on headaches to various residency programs and other forums.

I hope that this collection of articles will assist the local primary care physicians in their treatment of chronic headaches and facial pain.
