About the Cover --
Retired Cardiologist has a heart for photography
Gordon Ira, MD, a cardiologist who retired after 35 years of practice in
Jacksonville, is the photographer who took this issue’s cover photograph.
Retiring from medicine allowed Dr. Ira to start doing full-time what he had
been doing part-time all his life, taking photographs. Dr. Ira began a
photography business and now sells his photographs on his website,
www.gordonira.com.
This issue’s cover shot, “Snow on Red Berries” (taken in the Glacier
National Forest) symbolized to the journal’s editorial staff the advancing
of age (the snow) even as the vibrancy of life (the red berries) is still
making a person productive in society. To read more about Dr. Ira,
