About the Cover
Dr. Silliman took a photograph
similar to the view shown on this issue’s cover, while visiting
Goosenecks State Park in Utah. It shows the San Juan River
“outlining” each side of a rocky butte that rises dramatically
between other striking rock formations.
With a photographer’s eye, Dr.
Silliman saw the scene and was awed by its natural wonder, so he
captured the digital image with his camera. However, his
neurologist’s mind envisioned more. He said, “The butte in the
middle of the horseshoe river bend reminds me of a brain with the
cervical segment of the spinal cord attached.” |
