Dr. Alan Harmon’s election as FMA Treasurer at the 2007 FMA Annual Meeting would not have been possible without the support of physicians throughout Northeast Florida.  Members attended the caucus meetings, spoke to their colleagues about supporting Dr. Harmon, and voted on Sunday morning.

The Jacksonville Business Journal is now accepting nominations for their Health Care Heroes program honoring professionals in Northeast Florida who have improved health care and saved lives, especially in the past few years. You may nominate individuals in any of these 11 categories: .

Annual DCMS / Navy Meeting is September 25

The annual DCMS / Navy meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the NAS Jacksonville Officers Club. Michael J. Murray, MD, PhD, and Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves will share experiences from his tour of duty in Afghanistan this spring and summer.  Click here for more details and registration information. Workshop on Evaluating and Choosing an Electronic Health Record System

The Florida Medical Association and the DCMS are sponsoring a free workshop for physicians and their office staff on Learning How to Select and Purchase an Electronic Health Record for your practice.  The workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 2, from 6-8 PM in the FPIC boardroom. Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Schedule Is Online

The Northeast Florida Intergroup of Alcoholics Anonymous has asked the DCMS to help spread the word that their meeting schedules are available online (website: http://www.neflaa.org).  This is a great resource to share with your patients and families who are suffering from alcoholism.  Please make note of this resource.  Printed schedules are also available through the Intergroup office (phone: 399-8535 or NEFLIntergroup@aol.com) if you want copies available for your practice.
