School is out, the 3pm thunderstorms are back, Big Bang Theory is all re-runs, and football fans are starting to get antsy about the long off-season.
Yes, these are all traditional signs of summer. But allow me to add one more: No more emails from Bryan Campbell about the Florida Legislative Session!
This was a particularly difficult year. After 108 days of session and debate, no one really got what they wanted. In general, we feel the session went well for physicians as none of the major scope of practice expansion bills passed, and the LIP funds for 2015-2016 were secured. But you've heard me say all of this in my message last week. For those of you who would like to continue following the latest from Tallahassee, we will continue to post news updates on our Legislative Blog.
So now I truly want to talk about some of the great fun activities we have coming up with the Medical Society.
It's not too late to join our inaugural CMS Alaskan Cruise. Cabins are as low as $749/person and the CME (12 hours) is now just $99 for Medical Society Members! Click here to learn more.
Give back to the community! August 1 is our annual high school sports screening event, done in conjunction with the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program. We need dozens of volunteers to help conduct simple medical screens. It's a fun and easy way to give a little back to the community. Click here to sign up!
If you are like me and can't wait until the start of the football season, we have great news about our first County Medical Society Tailgate at the Jacksonville Jaguars! This event will be family friendly and will take place on Thursday, November 19 for the game against the Tennessee Titans! More information on tickets is coming soon!
