You are invited to a Town Hall Meeting & Doctors’ Day Celebration on Monday, April 7 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM, featuring DCMS President Dr. Glenn Knox, and FMA President Dr. Karl Altenburger, at the newly renovated Florida Museum of Medicine and Public Health, to discuss issues important to the practice of medicine on the First Coast. In celebration of Doctors' Day, a reception & tour of the Museum will follow the meeting. Click here for more details & a reservation form!

Your Input is needed on Health Information Technology!

If you have not yet completed the Health Information Technology survey, please take a few minutes to answer a short series of questions about your practice's use of electronic health records and other technology. The Health Information Technology committee will use the data to develop educational programs and resources to assist you and your practices.  Click here for a direct link to the survey, or visit our home page (www.dcmsonline.org) To thank you for your participation, all who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card to P.F. Chang's China Bistro!  The deadline for completing the survey is Friday, March 14.

Unnatural Causes – PBS series and local iniative

Unnatural Causes…is inequality making us sick?  “Unnatural Causes” is a nation-wide campaign to raise awareness about how the social circumstances in which we are born, live and work can get under our skin and disrupt our biology as surely as germs and viruses. The upcoming four-part documentary series airs on WJCT on March 27, April 3, April 10 and April 17 at 10:00 PM. Jacksonville is one of more than 100 communities throughout the nation that will partner in this national campaign.  Please visit the Duval County Health Department’s website for more information on the local campaign.

2008 Florida Legislative Session is underway!

The 2008 Florida Legislative Session began this week.  Take a few minutes to educate yourself about the pertinent issues and be prepared to contact your legislator when assistance is needed. Emergent legislative issues that require immediate action from members will be communicated via email and/or fax. Visit the Legal & Legislative section of our website for individual position papers and an updated contact list of the Duval Delegation.
