& Doctors' Day Celebration on April 7
The DCMS and DCMS Alliance
invite you to a Town Hall Meeting & Doctors’ Day Celebration on Monday, April 7 from 6:00 - 8:30 PM at
the newly renovated Florida Museum of Medicine and Public Health. DCMS
President Dr. Glenn Knox, and FMA President Dr. Karl Altenburger, want to
discuss issues important to the local practice of medicine with you … our local
physicians. In celebration of Doctors' Day, a reception & tour of the
Museum will follow the meeting. Click here for more
details & a reservation form!
The
FMA's managed care bill, SB 1012, cleared its second hurdle in the Senate last
Tuesday. The Senate Commerce Committee passed the bill out on a 9-0 vote. The
bill most likely will be up in the Senate Health Regulation Committee next
week. For a summary of the FMA’s managed
care bill, click here. The DCMS will keep you informed of this and other
legislative issues as the need arises. If you have any questions or concerns
about legislative issues, contact Jay Millson via email or phone 355-6561 ext. 105.

Unnatural Causes… is a nation-wide campaign to raise awareness about
how the social circumstances in which we are born, live and work can get under
our skin and disrupt our biology as surely as germs and viruses. The
upcoming four-part documentary series airs on WJCT on March 27, April 3, April
10 and April 17 at 10:00 PM. Jacksonville is one of more than 100 communities
throughout the nation that will partner with a new national campaign entitled “Unnatural Causes”.. For a downloadable
poster, click here, or visit the Duval County Health Department’s website for more information on the local campaign.
