On Saturday, November 19th, Memorial Hospital invites members of the community to an open house / block party to celebrate the completion of the Memorial Emergency Center – Mandarin. The open house will be held from 10am-2pm and will include tours of the new facility, free health screenings, food, entertainment, giveaways and family-friendly activities, including face painting, a bounce house and a teddy bear clinic. Families will also have an opportunity to meet and interact with the compassionate, caring staff that will treat patients at this facility.
“Mandarin is a rapidly-growing area in our community and residents have told us they want closer access to ER services,” said Memorial Hospital President & CEO Jim O’Loughlin. “By bringing a free-standing ER to Mandarin, we are demonstrating our commitment to this community by providing families who experience medical emergencies access to the right ER care at the right time – in their own neighborhood.”
The 10-bed, 11,000 square-foot facility will be Memorial Hospital’s third free-standing ER and Memorial’s 4th ER location. In October of 2012 Memorial opened the first free-standing emergency room in the region, the Memorial Emergency Center – Julington Creek. In July of 2014, Memorial opened a second free-standing emergency room, the Memorial Emergency Center – Atlantic. Like the other free-standing ERs, the Memorial Emergency Center – Mandarin will be a full-service ER, open 24/7 and staffed by emergency trained doctors and nurses.
“Our board-certified physicians and highly skilled clinical staff are specially trained to treat both adults and children,” said Amy Riley, Memorial Hospital Emergency Services Administrator. “Our staff will be able to treat any type of emergency from chest pain to broken bones with the same level of care as one would experience at our main hospital emergency room.”
The Memorial Emergency Center – Mandarin is located at 10910 San Jose Blvd. The ER officially opens to patients November 28.
