Legislative Update

FMA's priority legislation passed the House and Senate unanimously. SB 1012, the FMA's managed care bill, is the most substantial piece of legislation that the FMA has passed in the Legislature in the last five years. This legislation will balance the playing field between physicians and managed care companies. Unfortunately, with the tight budget year, funding for medical programs had mixed results.  A complete legislative wrap-up will be available soon.  Watch for details.

Important NPI Number Deadline Looming

Beginning May 23, 2008, all Medicare claims must have only your NPI number in the Primary Provider fields.  Legacy numbers will no longer be acceptable. If your billing practices do not currently do this, it is extremely important that you test your claims now.  For additional information, please vist the FCSO Web site.

AMA Leadership Visit

Lazarus, MD’s visit to the Jacksonville area.  There will be a dinner celebration on Monday evening, May 19 at Epping Forest Yacht Club, so mark your calendars and plan to attend.  Invitations have been mailed, but click here for details or download the registration flyer (PDF).
