Our Assets, Opportunities and Change will be held on September 16, 2009, 8:00 AM to 2 PM at

H1N1 Readiness and Resources
The DCMS Bioterrorism,
Disaster Response and Homeland Security Committee and the Duval County Health
Department have localized a CDC guidance document, 10 steps for Medical Offices
and Outpatient Facilities in Planning for and Responding to Novel H1N1
Influenza (also available as a PDF). The true
impact of Novel H1NI Flu outbreaks in the coming months will not be known until
it happens. Be prepared for a possibility that your facility will have
significant increased demand for services and the possibility that the fall
outbreak may have greater impact than the outbreak in the spring 2009.
Health System Reform
The Duval County Medical
Society is working to keep you updated on the quickly evolving congressional
debate on national health system reform. We encourage you to visit our website for physician and patient resources,
tort
reform resources, links to related sites and local media coverage, and links
to congressional contact information so you can voice your opinions to our
elected officials. Questions or comments

Team Physicians Needed for
The DCMS and the Jacksonville Sports
Medicine Program arrange for team physicians to provide medical coverage
for local high school football games.
Thanks to all of the team physicians who have already volunteered, but
more help is needed! The following high schools
need coverage for their home games beginning September 4: Terry Parker, Forrest,
Baldwin,
Annual DCMS / Navy Meeting is September 22 at NAS
Jacksonville
The annual gathering of DCMS
members and Navy medical professionals will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at the NAS Jacksonville Officer’s Club. The featured speaker will be Captain Bruce L.
Gillingham, MC, USN, Commanding Officer of Naval
Hospital Jacksonville. The 2009 Beals
and Shahin Awards will also be presented at that meeting. Click here for details
