Register now for the 3rd Annual Caring Community Conference!

The Center for Global Health and Medical Diplomacy and The Healthcare and Bioscience Council of NE Florida invite you to register for the 2009 Caring Community Conference. Strategies for the Future: Capitalizing on Our Assets, Opportunities and Change will be held on September 16, 2009, 8:00 AM to 2 PM at the University Center, UNF.  The registration fee is $50. Click here for the program agenda or visit the Center’s website to register through the UNF Box Office.

H1N1 Readiness and Resources

The DCMS Bioterrorism, Disaster Response and Homeland Security Committee and the Duval County Health Department have localized a CDC guidance document, 10 steps for Medical Offices and Outpatient Facilities in Planning for and Responding to Novel H1N1 Influenza (also available as a PDF). The true impact of Novel H1NI Flu outbreaks in the coming months will not be known until it happens. Be prepared for a possibility that your facility will have significant increased demand for services and the possibility that the fall outbreak may have greater impact than the outbreak in the spring 2009.

Health System Reform

The Duval County Medical Society is working to keep you updated on the quickly evolving congressional debate on national health system reform. We encourage you to visit our website for physician and patient resources, tort reform resources, links to related sites and local media coverage, and links to congressional contact information so you can voice your opinions to our elected officials.  Questions or comments can be emailed to jmillson@dcmsonline.org.

Team Physicians Needed for Local High School Football Games!

The DCMS and the Jacksonville Sports Medicine Program arrange for team physicians to provide medical coverage for local high school football games.  Thanks to all of the team physicians who have already volunteered, but more help is needed!  The following high schools need coverage for their home games beginning September 4: Terry Parker, Forrest, Baldwin, First Coast, Wolfson, and Ed White.  The schools’ schedules can be found in this PDF.  Please contact Barbara Braddock at membership@dcmsonline.org or 355-6561 ext. 107 to volunteer.  Thank you for your support of student athletes!
