As you settle into the calm after the storm, I am prayerful that you obtained minimal damage. We are thankful to all of the brave physicians and clinicians that stayed in town and hunkered down in case they were needed. Many dedicated service providers availed themselves to their institutions and organizations and the Duval County community as they braced for the worse. We were fortunate that due to a westward shift Irma did not have as destructive an impact as was possible. However, many were not left unscathed and sustained damage to their homes from the powerful, wind, rain and flooding. I salute many of you who provided space to fellow clinicians to practice if they had damage to their offices. Luckily, we have insurance to cover these material items. What we don’t have is insurance to cover the mental stress and turmoil that can fall upon us during times like these. As we focus on moving forward, please be reminded that here at DCMS we want to support you and provide resources that allow you to maintain overall health. The Physician Wellness Program is here to provide support if you have found yourself a bit overwhelmed by all that is happening. We are available 24 hours a day by calling (904) 631-1446.
Also, as a reminder, we have a CME dinner tonight that is meant to train you on “How to be a Rock Star Doctor.” Still need a ticket? You can call our office at (904) 355-6561 to get registered. Join us for this great event so that you can feel more prepared for the storms that may come your way!
