Is it time to start screening for lung cancer?

In the United States, nearly 90 percent of lung cancers occur in people who currently or previously smoked. People who have their lung cancer diagnosed at an early stage have a much greater chance of being cured. 

For the first time, screening for lung cancer in people who are at increased risk of the disease has been shown to save lives. 

In today's column for The Florida Times-Union, DCMS member Dr. Margaret Johnson discusses lung cancer screening and the types of patients it can benefit.
