DCMS Officer Bios
ALI KASRAEIAN, MD, MHA, FACS, PRESIDENT:

Ali Kasraeian, MD, MHA, FACS, is a leading licensed urologist and surgeon providing general and specialized care to the residents of Northeast Florida at Kasraeian Urology. Ranked among the top 7% of physicians alongside his father, Ahmad Kasraeian, MD, FACS, by US News & World Report, Dr. Ali Kasraeian is one of the few fellowship-trained advanced laparoscopic and robotic urologic surgeons in greater Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach and Northern Florida. Since training at the Montsouris Mutualiste Institut in Paris, he’s specialized in second opinions and minimally invasive surgery for bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers and other urological conditions. Dr. Kasraeian trained as a HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) surgeon, a minimally invasive therapy for localized prostate cancer. Before moving into medicine, he received his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and a post-baccalaureate from UF Gainesville’s psychology department. Dr. Kasraeian earned his doctorate in medicine with research honors from UF’s College of Medicine in Gainesville and completed a residency there. His level of training, knowledge, and compassion enable him to provide innovative personalized care. Dr. Kasraeian and his team were among the few clinics to bring multiparametric MRI and MRI-ultrasound fusion prostate biopsy to Jacksonville. In addition to practicing at Kasraeian Urology, he’s affiliated with over a dozen hospitals and medical associations, from the American Cancer Society to the Society of Robotic Surgery. Dr. Kasraeian has won many awards, including being named among America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

TIMOTHY GROOVER, MD, PRESIDENT-ELECT:

Dr. Tim Groover, a practicing anesthesiologist, completed his medical school and residency training at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, FL in 1995. Dr. Groover earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN where he graduated summa cum laude. He has practiced anesthesiology at Baptist Health in Jacksonville since 1996.

He currently serves as President of Physician Alignment and Chief Medical Officer at Baptist Health. Dr. Groover has served in varying capacities within Baptist Health including Chief of the Department of Anesthesia, Secretary of the Medical Staff, Chief of Staff, a member of the Clinical Integration Steering Committee, and Chairperson of the Clinical Integration Communication Subcommittee, Chairman of the Credentials Committee, and Chairman of the Code 15 Committee.

In addition to serving on the Board of Duval County Medical Society (DCMS) Dr. Groover also serves on the Coastal Community Health (CCH) Board, the KIPP Board as Vice Chair, the Signify Health Advisory Board and the Cedar Health Advisory Board. He is a member of the Baptist Health Finance Committee, and the Baptist Health Clinical Quality Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a Certified Physician Executive (CPE), and member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Florida Society of Anesthesiologists.

LEIGH SPEICHER, MD, VICE PRESIDENT:


Leigh L. Speicher, M.D., is board certified in Internal and Aerospace Medicine. She serves as a consultant within the Section of the Executive Health Program. She is the Medical Director for Patient Experience. She is the Director of the Covid-19 Virtual Clinic where she oversees telemedicine services and infusions for outpatients with Covid-19. Dr. Speicher is an assistant professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Jacksonville, Florida.

Dr. Speicher earned her BS degree at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She then obtained her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She completed a general surgery internship at the National Navy Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. She studied internal and aerospace medicine in her residency program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she also completed a Master of Public Health degree.

Dr. Speicher is a north Florida native who has served as a flight surgeon at Naval Air Station Jacksonville. She is a licensed private pilot and a Senior Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aeromedical Examiner. She worked in the medical appeals department for the FAA prior to joining Mayo in 2012. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and scuba diving.

F. HUSON GILBERSTADT, MD, VICE PRESIDENT:


Huson Gilberstadt, M.D. is the current Vice President Substance Use Disorders and Addiction Services, Medical Director Associate and Occupational Health, and Executive Lead for Military Medicine for Ascension.

Previously, Dr. Gilberstadt was the Chief Clinical Officer for the Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast markets. Dr. Gilberstadt served alongside the Chief Operating Officer and System Chief Nursing Officer of Clinically Integrated Systems of Care. Dr. Gilberstadt has also previously served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Acute Care division. Before that, he was a physician advisor for three Ascension St. Vincent's hospitals and worked for Emergency Medical Specialist of Jacksonville.

Dr. Gilberstadt grew up in Jacksonville and was born at St. Vincent’s, as were his father and his three sons. He graduated from Ed White High School and then attended the University of Georgia. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He is board certified in emergency medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine.

In his spare time, Dr. Gilberstadt enjoys alligator trapping, hunting, fishing and diving. He has been to his wife Lisa for 10 years. Together they have seven sons.

FERDINAND FORMOSO, DO, IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT:

Ferdinand J. Formoso, D.O. is a board-certified interventional pain medicine specialist as well as a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist.

Dr. Formoso received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Buffalo in 1996, and then earned his doctorate degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001. Dr. Formoso served as chief resident for the Temple University/Moss Rehab Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program in Philadelphia, PA. Under Temple’s Program Director Dr. Frank Falco, a past President of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, Dr. Formoso completed his fellowship in interventional pain medicine.

Dr. Formoso is the founder of Formoso Spine & Joint Pain Specialists and serves acute and chronic spine and joint pain patients in Jacksonville.
