Francys Calle Martin, Esq., LHRM is the Senior Loss Prevention Attorney and Vice President of Florida Academic Healthcare Patient Safety Organization.

Objectives:

1. Competence: At the end of the course, learners will be able to define medical error and discuss the multiple factors propelling medical error prevention and patient safety efforts.

2. Performance: At the end of the course, learners will understand The Joint Commission and state agency standards, as well as regulations relating to sentinel and adverse events, and the process of root cause analysis. They will be aware of the Board of Medicine’s most misdiagnosed conditions and understand consequences for both the patient and the healthcare provider.

3. Patient Outcomes: At the end of the course, learners should be able to better eliminate medical errors in their practice.
